The 2022 New Year bells ring optimism for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta and his men. Currently 4th in the table, the Gunners have put together several cohesive performances this season. They have also been able to build a solid core of youngsters, capable of carrying the team forward into a brighter future.

However, the Gunners still do have room for improvement. Let us take a look at certain key areas that Arsenal could decide upon to improve in the year 2022:
What to do With the Squad:
Arsenal have a solid starting XI with good players in each position. The first team is backed by a reasonably strong ing cast. The Gunners have used 27 different players in the Premier League this season, the second-most in the league. With a few quality options emerging from the U-23 squad as well as a good resource of talents from outside, the Gunners may be tempted to rejig their squad a little.

Nketiah remains determined to leave the Emirates. Arsenal have to take decisions on such matters and try to solicit a better transfer fee from wherever possible.
Who to Target in the Market:
linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen. Folarin Balogun is expected to leave too on a loan to Middlesbrough.
Martinelli can play centre-forward but has largely been used in wider positions. A new g is certainly required, and Gianluca Scamacca, Jonathon David, etc. continue to remain able options as well.

Another position the Gunners could consider reinforcements is for the defensive midfield role. Thomas Partey and Xhaka have proven to be an able starting duo. Albert Sambi Lokonga has also adapted well to life in the Premier League. However, Elneny and Maitland-Niles leaving could open up room for another midfielder. Lyon’s Bruno Guimares has been linked most prominently and would fit very well into Arteta’s plans.

What to Improve on the Field:
Simply put – Concentration. The Gunners have the tendency to play very well and control the game for large periods, but slip up a goal or fail to score due to simple errors. Rather than a qualitative deficiency, this is down largely to a lack of focus from the players at crucial times.
If Arsenal do aspire to finish in the Top-4, they will have to ensure such slip-ups are avoided. In an increasingly competitive race for the Champions League spots, the Gunners can scarcely afford to drop points anymore, much less gift it to the opposition.
