The player has kept his options open and is understood to be alright with the concept of a move away from Barca. However, he is not in any rush to leave by any means, and would prefer to stay. He is comfortable at the Nou Camp and does not feel the need to leave or force a move away from the club. The only issue that has left him deliberating over his future is his contract.

Several reports have suggested that Rakitic is eyeing a pay rise and is keen on g an improved deal at Barca. The Catalan giants though, have made it clear that they will not be offering him improved in the near future. The midfielder is now 31 years old, and does not represent a long term option for either Barca or clubs such as United that are interested in him.

That being said, the Old Trafford outfit are in need of an experienced head to guide a squad that is sorely lacking in the leadership department.
