According to reports from the Daily Mail, Arsenal have enquired Bayern Munich star midfielder Thiago Alcantara. It’s known for a long time that Liverpool holds an interest in the playmaker and are looking to sign him this summer, but unwilling to pay Bayern’s asking price.
It’s hard to tell who Arsenal’s real transfer targets are, so many names are in play for so few places in key areas. Arsenal’s plans to secure the services of Dani Ceballos for another season, potentially full term are said to be ongoing, but there is a real danger that Real Madrid will want an outright buyer for the gifted midfielder.

Apparently, AC Milan are ready to stump up the cash and Arsenal will have to look elsewhere for an attacking playmaker with instinctive defensive skills. Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich) can fill the role that Arteta needs and the first thing that strikes you about the Spaniard is his judgement, beautiful close control, and delightful first touch.
He often receives the ball in a negative/defensive position but can instantly turn it into an attack with one touch and commence a forward run simply by taking the ball out on a diagonal angle. If you watch the 29-year-old closely, it’s almost become a signature move and one that he still implements without the opposition being able to prevent.

He is attack-minded, works the pitch, drifts out wide, or holds the centre. He has quick reactions, intuitive instincts and can open up areas of attack with a series of short es or by offering testing long forward balls.
If Ceballos is picked up by someone else, which is highly likely, Thiago Alcantara would be a decent option. If he is added to Ceballos in Arsenal’s midfield, Arteta has the makings of something very interesting and classy.
