Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Paul Pogba has what it takes to be a Manchester United captain. 636n3b

Pogba has been in incredible form trusted again by his manager and as a result, is performing to the very best of his abilities on the pitch. He was phenomenal once again last night against Arsenal, as he helped his side run away with a 3-1 away win in the F.A Cup.

This is all in stark contrast to the Paul Pogba who frequently dominated the headlines for all the wrong reasons under former manager Jose Mourinho. The Frenchman was appointed one of United’s multiple captains at the start of the season. After a poor run of form and a very public falling out, Mourinho told him that he would never captain the club again.

Solskjaer though, is of a completely different opinion. Having played alongside some of the greatest captains the game has ever seen, he knows a thing or two about what a leader should be like. He believes that Pogba has leadership qualities and can be a United captain.

“Definitely, [I would consider him as captain], because I know the boy from before and he is a leader.

“He’s a character, he influences people and you’ve seen the videos from , and he cares and he really wants to be successful. He knows he can’t do it by himself, it’s a team game and he’s a character that brings so many good things with him when he’s enjoying himself.

“You see the personality. He loves playing football, he’s a larger-than-life character, that’s just the way he is.

“When the performances come as well, that marries together as a good leader and you see what it meant to him winning the World Cup. So for me, yes, he’s captain material.”
