I’m convinced that Mauricio Pochettino will be the next manager of Manchester United and have been for some time. I’m not sure if United have sounded out the Argentinian but if I were on the board, I’d be bombarding every available number for him until he answered.
Moreover, if reports from Manchester Evening News are to be believed, the Red Devils have approached the former Tottenham manager intending to replace Solskjaer as their manager. The MEN understands that the Old Trafford outfit have made with Pochettino’s representatives, given the current sombre situation under Solskjaer.

The job at Old Trafford is now massive and beyond the capabilities of Ole Gunner Solskjaer. The dark clouds are circling the stadium in the red half of Manchester and there’s an air of inevitability about an appointment that the club should have made before the talented manager and coach was dismissed by Spurs.
Pochettino will need assurances of investment because the team that faced Arsenal last weekend will almost certainly be dismantled. It’s hard to say who will survive the cull but one would expect Bruno Fernandes, David de Gea, Nemanja Matic, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to survive.
As for the rest, that may depend on what Pochettino sees in training but I’d certainly dispatch Jessie Lingard, Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, and Scott McTominay, none of whom are fit to wear the United shirt. The rest can sweat it out over six weeks until the new manager issues them with their marching orders.

In many ways, the Manchester United job is the biggest in football because of the amount of work, time, and money it will take, but Mauricio Pochettino has clarity in his vision and knows how he expects his team to play. He is easily the best fit for United in their current predicament and he will rebuild and restore their reputation in the game by making them exciting.
Solskjaer’s United are unpredictable, inconsistent, and at times completely dull. It’s like a visit to the dentist where he puts teeth in. The players can’t give him what he needs and that failure rests squarely with the manager. United will act swiftly if they remain in the lower reaches of the Premier League table. Don’t rule out a change in four or five weeks.
