Let’s take a look at the team news as Manchester United host Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinals at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Red Devils are riding on the back of a 2-0 win against Everton last weekend while the Merseysiders are fresh from a thumping 6-1 win over Sparta Prague in the Europa League this Thursday.

Manchester United are 12-time FA Cup champions, while Liverpool have won the tournament eight times. Jurgen Klopp’s men have already won the EFL Cup this season and will want to go a step closer to securing their second trophy.
How Manchester United Have Lined Up Recently
Erik ten Hag has been fielding his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro forming the double pivot in the middle of the park. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho started on the left and right flanks, respectively, in their last match and Bruno Fernandes has played as the false nine of late. Scott McTominay played as the No. 10 in what can be called a somewhat makeshift system to deal with the absence of Rasmus Hojlund.
Changes We May See
We are likely to see some changes in the the Red Devils line-up. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Rasmus Hojlund and Harry Maguire are all likely to be fit for Sunday’s game. Hence, AWB might start as the right-back, while Diogo Dalot might shift to the left-back position. Maguire should partner Raphael Varane at the centre of United’s defence.
Manchester United’s Recent Form and Tactics
After a couple of disappointing losses against beating Everton 2-0 in the Premier League. However, it is important to mention that the Toffees ed more attempts than the Red Devils did, which raises the question of United’s ability to dominate matches.

Garnacho’s individual brilliance won United the match against Everton. United were not able to assert their supremacy aside from converting a couple of penalties. The Manchester United defence will have to be on their toes against a menacing Liverpool forward line.
In addition to that, Erik ten Hag’s midfield might also have to endure an intense press from Liverpool’s midfield, just like Manchester City had to face in their 1-1 draw with the Reds last Sunday.
Manchester United Injuries to Consider
Jonny Evans will likely miss Sunday’s match owing to an injury he sustained against the Toffees. In addition to that, previously injured players like Mason Mount, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez will also not be available against Klopp’s men.
