Manchester City had seemed like the likely destination for the Chilean with daily reports emerging of his agreement to them in the summer or a transfer during the winter for a mere compensation of €25 million. [spacer height=”30px”]
However, United ed the race for his signature after learning that City are refusing to meet both Arsenal’s £35million asking price and the forward’s personal demands. How much of that is true remains to be seen but Manchester United’s late interest has been confirmed by a number of well know journalists.

Sky in Italy: Manchester United want to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal & ready to include Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of deal

Sanchez is reported to have asked for a three-and-a-half-year contract worth £400,000-a-week, as well as a £15million g-on fee.

Something which is likely to cost the Citizens around £124m this month for a 29-year-old. Quite understandable for other clubs if they would have baulked at this but this is City so reports of them being comfortable would be quite impossible frankly.

Manchester United and Manchester City are both battling for his signature but it seems Jose Mourinho’s side may have the upper hand with reports coming by Sky Sports Italia claiming that City are infact losing ground with they stubborn stance and confidence over Sanchez coming in the summer if not now giving United the upperhand and the scope of an agreement with the Chilean in what should have been otherwise a done deal for the Chilean.

Wonderful indeed and while all this happens behind the scenes, here is what Arsene Wenger had to Say about everything happening, the possibility of Sanchez leaving now or in the summer and search for his replacement. However even though he did concede that Sanchez might leave, he seemed vehemently opposed to the idea of Sanchez leaving without an replacement and that is what might keep Alexis beyond this window.
