You have to sometimes read between the lines of the statements that come from Arsenal or at least add a hefty pinch of salt or you may end up deriving some sort of meaning other than the one that was intended. 6u6f6y
Josh Kroenke continued his slow but calculated integration as the new figure Head of the club with a statement that implied that Arsenal won’t rush into appointing a new.
Nothing odd in that, it allows Kroenke and the Arsenal board time to assess Ljungberg as the interim manager and perhaps identify their top four targets for the position.
Two are unemployed at present and two are in the middle of their league campaign but the statement also acts as a traditional Arsenal smokescreen to cover up their intentions, disguise their preferences and divert attention away from their real targets.
Allegri, who has apparently been ed by Arsenal is unlikely to pick up the reigns mid season and Pochettino’s appointment is far from certain because of his ties to Arsenal’s neighbours.
Brendan Rogers and Nuno Espírito Santo are unlikely to move to Arsenal until the season ends unless the compensation is astronomical, so Kroenke’s words are reasonable under the circumstances. Of the search for a new coach/manager for Arsenal, Kroenke said,
“Our process is already underway. Because of our confidence in Freddie we’re very fortunate that we’re going to be entering into our process and doing a thorough search and it’s about finding the right candidate, it’s not about finding the first candidate.”
Arteta or Vieira would be easier to secure but would they be any different as an option from Ljungberg ? No, not really. Besides, Freddie Ljungberg and Per Mertesacker appear, on paper at least, to be a fairly potent duo.
It remains to be seen which appointments are made to the backroom while Ljungberg is in the post but the German’s promotion as assistant seems the most likely.
It’s said that another former Gunner Gilberto Silva May also return to the Emirates in a coaching role but the former midfielder said,
“There hasn’t been any . I don’t know if it will happen now but maybe in the future. At the moment, I can tell you there is nothing in place.”
On Ljungberg’s appointment the Brazilian said,
“If he gets the results and gets the players ing him, there is a chance. The club will him but it is important everyone works hard and gets together. Of course they will respect him and give him the opportunity to do well.”
So it’s a case of ready, Freddie, go ! Let’s get the season back on course.
