Manchester United are set to lock horns for Barcelona fan-favourite Jasper Cillessen this summer. 2z361r
The Dutchman is often regarded as the best backup keeper in the world as he has never failed to step up during Marc-André Ter Stegan’s absence. Cillessen is loved by the Cules and is highly respected in Spain. Moreover, the 30-year-old had impressed everyone around Europe even during his time at Ajax.
However, being stuck at the Nou Camp as a backup keeper isn’t something the Dutch international is satisfied with.
According to Don Balon, the North Londoners are looking to sign the former Ajax man as Unai Emery has lost faith in Bernd Leno. Moreover, Emi Martinez is said to be insisting on a departure from the Emirates unless he gets a starting role in the squad.
On the other hand, it is not quite sure why the Red Devils are looking to sign another high profile goalkeepeer with David De Gea and Sergio Romero having proven their worth in England.
To be quite fair, Don Balon despite being a big outlet, are not quite “reputable.” The Spanish outlet are notorious for fabricating sensational rumours purely to attract eyes.
It simply does not make sense why Emery would lose faith in Leno so early despite saving the Gunners numerous points and having proven to be a bargain for the price he was signed for. Only situation where the import of Cillessen makes sense would be if Martinez makes an exit, leaving the North Londoners with just one senior No. 1 with Petr Cech retiring at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, a goalkeeper is far from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s worries this transfer season. Making a move for the Barca star makes even less sense.
Additionally, the report also claims that the Dutch keeper does not care about playing Champions League football should he make the switch to England. This would actually put him at a worse situation because neither club could possibly guarantee regular first-team football, meaning Europa League is what he would get.
In conclusion, the report seems a bit sensational and dodgy to say the least. And probably, this opinion would turn out to be true at the end of the transfer window.
