Arsenal Preparing Big Summer Move for Atalanta Striker Rasmus Hojlund

As per reports in Italy, Arsenal are looking to make a massive offer for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund in the summer. Given the need to improve their depth in the striking department, the Gunners have identified the Danish forward as one their top targets.

The Serie A side signed Rasmus Hojlund in a €17 million (£15m) from Austrian club Strum Graz just last summer and has managed to impress both the fans and the coaching staff in such a short time. The centre-forward has had an immediate impact after ing Atalanta and is already expected to see offers from big clubs in Europe after a season with the Italian outfit.

The Danish striker has netted the ball 13 times while assisting 5 times in 22 appearances for the Italian side in all competitions this season (stats via Transfermarkt). These are exceptional stats for a 20-year-old striker playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues. He also earned two senior caps for Denmark last year.

According to La Repubblica (via Metro), Arsenal have been monitoring the growth of Rasmus Hojlund and are considering making a move for the Dane in the summer. The report states the Gunners are preparing a giant offer for the Danish striker.

Atalanta have the upper hand while negotiating as Hojlund still has four more years left on his contract. The Italian club also plan on keeping the player past the 2023 summer transfer window. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini is confident that the Denmark international is going to be one to look out for in the future. This is what Gasperini had to say:,

‘Hojlund has this spirit, energy, intensity, but also technical quality that is just remarkable. He still has so much margin for improvement, too, He has very similar characteristics to Haaland, not just his face. He is so quick, he’s under 11 seconds over 100 metres and that’s not even trying very hard. Considering his height, he has a low centre of gravity and can move his legs very fast. I am convinced he’ll have a great career, he just gets stronger every day.’

Moreover, the North London side will have to make a big offer considering Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is also said to be a big fun of the young centre-forward. Perez believes Hojlund could be a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

Should Arsenal Break The Bank For Rasmus Hojlund?

Erling Haaland is just 22-years-old and is already one of the best strikers in the world right now. Rasmus Hojlund does have similar qualities to that of the Norwegian and is only 20-years-old. The Dane is performing exceptionally well at Atalanta but is capable of doing better with better .

The Gunners signed Gabriel Jesus as their new number 9 in the last summer window. However, he has not been available for Arsenal for the majority of this season due to injury, although he did show what effect he can have when starting games. The Brazilian likes to dribble, likes to have the ball at his feet, and is not one to wait in the box like a poacher just to score goals.

On the other hand, the Danish striker likes to finish off his chances in a very similar fashion to Haaland. Although Hojland does not have a big build like Haaland, he still has the same intensity to trouble the opposition’s defences. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will have options in of having two strikers with different playing styles. This will help the Spaniard to change his setup when chasing a game or when they have to break low-blocks.

Rasmus Hojlund is an investment for the long-term and Arsenal should make an attempt to sign the player in the transfer window before Real Madrid seriously enter the market for the 20-year-old sensation.
