Raúl Sanllehí isn’t keen to make that mistake again and although the club are not in favour of long term contract extensions, they may well secure the services of Matteo Guendouzi. 1n171e
Arsenal won’t make the mistake of letting contracts of valuable player run down again, its cost them too much in the past. Aaron Ramsey would have added around £50m to Emery’s transfer chest, had he been on a contract extension when Juventus came knocking.
Matteo Guendouzi arrived at the Emirates as a 20-year-old, having been plucked from obscurity by Sven Mislintat for a paltry £7m in 2018 from Lorient FC.
The club reportedly looked at extending his contract this July after acknowledging his talent and potential. Matteo Guendouzi is secure until 2022, but with performances such as the recent North London Derby, where he excelled, they would be wise to re-open negotiations and put golden handcuffs around the youngster’s wrists immediately.
At the rate Guendouzi is developing, its only a matter of time before Real Madrid or Barcelona try to prize him away for a massive return, but Arsenal really don’t have to sell and if they decide to it’s an indicator that they care more about cash than success.
The midfielder could be a major influence in the Arsenal set up and a ready made replacement for the likes of Ceballos and Ozil. He could form a stunning partnership with Joe Willock or Emile Smith Rowe which could last years.

Some may read this and say there’s no rush. That it’s, just one performance and they have a point, but rarely does someone at this stage of their career display such confidence, ion and ability. The closest player Arsenal had in this respect was Cesc Fabregas and he didn’t do too badly.
The point is that if Arsenal act quickly to tie him to a contract until 2025, he will be worth even more if a suitor comes calling. Let’s hope it’s a contract that incorporates releases clauses and sell on fees because this lad will be incredibly successful at domestic and international level.
Matteo Guendouzi has just received his first call up to the senior French team and will replace Paul Pogba, so if you need proof of his talent, that should do the trick.
